Annotation
The aim of the dissertation will be a comparative analysis of selected literary works of the 21st century in terms of queer poetics, themes, and politics. We will be interested in the ways in which queer literature can be defined in literary terms, what specifically queer writing brings to literature and literary research, what possibilities LGBTQ+ studies or queer reading opens up when reading literature, and also how this literature enters into discussions about LGBTQ+ people's human rights, democracy and freedom, and brings social critique to the table. The subjects of comparison will be Nigerian, South African and Slovakian authors who share a pioneering position in bringing queer themes and approaches to their respective countries.
