Currently, the problem of heat load in the summer and its mitigation by installing active cooling systems begins to represent a significant energy need in the total energy balance of residential buildings. Therefore, systems and new technological trends in passive cooling using thermal radiation mechanisms based on selective properties are attracting more attention worldwide to reduce energy consumption and the associated greenhouse gas emissions. The principles of night radiation cooling have been extensively investigated in previous decades around the world. However, daily radiation cooling represents a new research dimension, especially from the perspective of reducing the cooling requirements of buildings. Pilot research on this progressive issue has recently been conducted during the transition season particularly in arid areas, however in the Central European conditions, this issue is completely unexplored. The fundamental objective of this research work mainly concentrates on solving these problems of buildings while reducing their overheating and emphasizes the relevance of research with a focus on incorporating the selective properties of building materials and surfaces into heat balances and finding the potential to improve the energy efficiency of buildings throughout the year.
