Annotation
Previous studies have pointed to a key vasoregulatory role of the hydrogen sulfide (H2S) signaling pathway in various animal models of cardiovascular complications. In conditions of metabolic syndrome (MS), there are several disorders of vascular function, such as to endothelial dysfunction, which is related, beside others, also to changes in H2S signaling. Previous studies focused mainly on the study of disorders of the cardiovascular system in MS in males. However, the reproductive state, especially menopause, can have a significant impact on females. The project will monitor the influence of gender and reproductive status (menopause) in females in an experimental model of MS with the aim of revealing differences in vasoactive regulatory mechanisms. At the same time, it will investigate the possible beneficial effects of flavonoid administration in reducing the risk of developing cardiovascular complications associated with postmenopausal MS.
