"For us it is important to clarify our position but also to get suggestions to improve our contribution and position in the European research area. The results of evaluation will not be the basis for restrictive measures at the academy, our intention is positive: I hope that we will create a space for negotiation with government structures to get extra funding for the research of the best SAS scientists. We also expect that the evaluation will create not only the overall picture, but it will also point out the areas in which we differ from others in a positive or negative evaluation, so it can lead us to the areas in which we have extraordinary results, " underlined Pavol Šajgalík in his speech.
Dr. Eva Majková, SAS Vice President for Research explained the profile of SAS and its mission. Then Assessment Panel members set up the cooperation between foreign experts and members of the SAS who are responsible for the summary of data from scientific institutions, which are necessary for evaluation. They also planned the evaluation process - from data collection through visits of assessors and invited members of the panel in scientific institutions (October and November 2016) and its report (December 2016), till the final report of Meta-Panel (January 2017).
