2nd International Symposium on INTEGRATED BIOMARKERS IN CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES

The Symposium will be held in Berlin (Germany), on June 21-23, 2007,

promoted and organized by the Charité Hospital– University of Medicine (Berlin, Germany) and the Giovanni Lorenzini Medical Foundation (Milan, Italy and Houston, USA), under the auspices of the International Atherosclerosis Society, German Cardiac Society, and German HeartFailure Network.

The Meeting will be co-chaired by Profs. Rainer Dietz (President of the German Cardiac Society, Director Department of Cardiology, Charité Campus Virchow-Klinikum, Berlin, Germany), Valentin Fuster (President of the World Heart Federation; Cardiovascular Institute, The Mount Sinai Medical Center - New York – NY/USA) and Rodolfo Paoletti (President, Fondazione Giovanni Lorenzini, Milan, Italy and Houston,TX, USA).

Director of the Symposium is Santica M Marcovina (Director, Northwest Lipid Metabolism and Diabetes Research Laboratories University of Washington Seattle, WA, USA).



An exciting addition to the program of the 2nd International Symposium will be the discussion of clinical cases where the integration of biomarkers is used. Thanks to the collaboration with the Charité Hospital of Berlin, key cases will be recorded and presented during the Symposium. The selected cases will focus on: ACS, Pulmonary Embolism, Inflammatory Disease of the Heart, and Stroke. The experts from the Charitè Hospital will present their procedures and the benefits resulting from integrated approaches.



Furthermore, a Round Table “The stakeholders’ points of view on the validation of integrated biomarkers” will be held: scientists and representatives from regulatory agencies, health organizations, scientific societies, and industry will present their views on the use of integrated biomarkers in cardiovascular diseases as well as their needs to comply with regulatory and evidence based medicine issues in the development of clinical trials.



Poster Sessions for submitted papers will also be organized.



A Scientific Exhibit will be held in the Exhibition Area during the Symposium.
