The article aims to observe and compare the divorce rates from 1991 up to the present in Czechia and Slovakia. In this paper, we place emphasis primarily on the analysis of intensity indicators of divorce rates at the national and subnational level in both countries. The most accurate intensity indicators to be considered are the total divorce rate (per person) and the total divorce rate. The data for the analysis was obtained from the databases of the Czech and Slovak statistical offices. The output of the ana-lysis points to the conclusion that, despite changes over time, in Czechia and Slovakia there is a certain convergence in the values of the intensity of divorces. It is also possible to see a striking form of the development of divorce trends in both countries. At the regional level, it can be stated that while in the case of the total divorce rate there is a reduction of disparities between regions in both countries, the variability of divorce intensity (i.e., the total divorce rate) decreased in Czechia, whereas in Slovakia this variability became more evident over time.
