After the expulsion of the Turks from the region of the Carpathians, in the second half of the eighteenth century, there began in Slovakia too, an economic revival and a cultural restoration. J. M. Korabinský, member of a needy educated class, took an active part in the raising of the general Standard of living, by gathering and disseminating useful knowledge, chiefly as an economic geographer, cartographer, statistician, pedagogue and journalist. His lasting geographical works became the source of information for the generations that followed.
