The author deals with the possibilities of correlation of young- Pleistocene river terraces of the central portion of the Valley of the Váh in Slovakia, on the basis of the degree of disturbance of little resistant minerals of volcanic origin. In the river terraces of different age there were found grains of hypersthene disturbed by different intensity. The author assumes that in the territories where there is a lack of criteria for stratigraphic classification of river terraces, the study of the degree of disturbance of individual heavy minerals can be a suitable aid in the correlation of individua! terraces and in their classification into the Quaternary chronological system.
