O článku:
On the basis of the geographical analysis of the mountains, of the analysis of spruce (Picea excelsa LINK) growth conditions by the biometrical method and on the basis of the analogy of the height and of the course of upper timberline in other mountains, a timberline reconstruction has been carried out. Before interference by man, on the Veľký Choč Mt that line reached relatively high places, nearly up to 1500 m a. s. 1. On the Veľký Choč Mt the following factors exert their favourable influence upon the upper timberline height; carbonate substratum, weak dissection of the massif abundant in plateaus, missing of a long and integral main ridge as well as a farther situation of the Veľký Choč Mt from the northwestern border, which, in comparison with the Krivánska Malá Fatra Mts and the Oravská Magura Mts, results in a lesser cloudiness, higher insolation, weak occurrence of fall winds and totally a lesser destructive influence of wind upon the tree vegetation. The maps enclosed represent net only a continuous growth area, but also single spruces as well as isolated dwarfed pines, so that the dynamics and recenssion of the wood towards the original natural line can be traced.
