The study is aimed with its contents at the hydrology and hydrogeology o£ Danubian islands in the Czechoslovak territory. There is a great number of islands in the inundation area of the Danube. Only one of them is permanently inhabited, namely the Červená flotila Isle in Komárno, but several can be used as water- supplying areas. The greatest one is the Sihoť Isle in the Devín water gap. It is taken away from it more than 1000 l water per sec. for the water supply of Bratislava. On the Červená flotila Isle the water source of£ the water supply o£ Komárno was built. It has been found that even further islands have a very favourable hydrogeological value as well as a good geographical position for building water sources.
