Karst depressions may be considered as the fundamental not yet researched landforms of the Slovakian Karst. In fact, they are closed depressions with fiat ground, dissected by sinkholes and not reaching an area over 1 km2. In this contribution is analysing the chemistry of limestones from the bottom of karst depressions and surrounding chains, the structure and microtectonic of limestones as well as the tectonic and nature of hillsides. On this basis the genesis of carst depressions is solving, having it’s source In Chemical solution, making deeper nad more wide the bottom.
