O článku:
In the present study, the author estimates for regionalization, the ordinary, thermal and mineral groundwaters in the basin of Nitra river, in Slovakia’s western part. The basin’s territory is likewise investigated as human environment, within the UNO program. The basin’s area is 5.140 km^, the river bed length 242,8 km, the length of all affluents is 7.300 km. The author divides the proper flood-plain in three regionalization units, in view of their independent regime of groundwaters and their alluvions: the upper basin-like part, the medium hilly part and the lower plain part. In each part, the groundwaters are also evaluated qualitatively and quantitatively, since they are the main source of drinking water. The basin upper part is rich on spring waters, the lowland part on underground waters from the aqueous layers of Quaternary and highest Neogene. In the basin, industry, brown coal mining, thermic power plants are highly developed and agriculture is extremely intensive. In its overall water managing balance, the basin is passive, particularly its central part is poor on underground water.
