Spôsoby využívania ornej pôdy. Porovnávacia štúdia na príklade Poľska, ČSSR a Maďarska

The article is methodological and cognitive essay. It is based on statistical data collected in selected countries of East Central Europe. The author identified crop comb nations (orientations of arable land utilization) using the technique of successive quotients. The technique consists in determining proportions of the main crops in crop combination. The proportion is obtained by dividing the acreage of respective crops successively by 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and so on, and next comparing the obtained quotients in the 6/6 pattern. The highest values of quotients determine the orientations in the utilization of arable land. Spatial differences in crop combinations in the investigated area are related to natural conditions, labour supplies, agrarian structure and different land tenure Systems and the situation in relations to urban markets.
