O článku:
The contribution is devoted to the Danube terraces in the Devínska Brána Gate (Porta Hungarica). In the investigation, the author used the methods of mapping and geomorphological analysis. In the Devínska Brána Gate she has distinguished seven terraces of the Danube, beginning with the bottom accumulation up to those in relative heights of 130 – 140 m. The terraces are ordered into four groups, namely low terraces — fiat terrace of the Danube, middle terraces – the 2nd middle terrace and the Ist middle terrace of the Danube, high terraces – the 3rd high terrace, 2nd high terrace, 1st high terrace of the Danube and, at last, a high plateau terrace. The rise of the composite terrace scarps was conditioned by an alternation of cold and warm periods in the territory tectonically uplifting during the Quaternary. The beginning of development of the Devínska Brána Gate is tied, probably, to the Upper Pliocene. The resulting effect of the Quaternary agency is erosive and it makes about 130 –140 m according to the difference in the height between the plateau terrace and the erosion surface of fiat terrace. The Devínska Brána Gate is, above all, a result of the Quaternary agency of the Danube, which used an old tectonic predisposition.
