Such a complicated phenomen of environment like soil-forming process is divided by the author into elementary, partial, and main soil-forming processes. The elementary processes create temporary of persistent qualitative differences of some marks of processes in the soil, The partial processes are made by the sets of elementary soil-forming processes causing qualitative changes of the fundamental components of soils. The main soil-forming processes are represented by a complete process consisting of several types of partial processes. According to the nature of the prevailing partial process and of the combination between them the author distinguishes the main soil-forming processes, their types, and subtypes.
