Bude miesto pre všetky deti? Kapacita predškolských zariadení v Bratislavskom samosprávnom kraji

The paper aims to present the most accurate data on the capacity and availability of pre-school facilities in the Bratislava self-governing region in terms of their spatial detail (municipal level) and completeness (not only official kindergartens but also private facilities providing care for children from 3 to 6 years of age). The problem areas are identified and the consequences of the introduction of compulsory pre-school attendance together with the proposals for solutions to achieve the highest possible participation rate of children in pre-school facilities are presented. The ambition is to highlight the facts that have stood outside the analyses presented so far. More than half of the 89 municipalities were identified as having insufficient capacity for pre-school children. We estimate that from September 2021, there will be more than 31,600 pre-school children, while the kindergartens will have a capacity for approximately 26,700 children. The presented optimization model can allocate 1,412 pupils. The evidence from exploratory research shows that, assuming the capacity of official and minimum capacity estimates of out-of-network facilities, there are more than 2,000 places still missing. In the short term, sufficient capacity will not be filled without allowing the participation of private providers.
