The author examines the changes of living environment within the boundaries of the Červený Kameň manorial estate, in connection with the economic activity of Fuggers, with special reference to the structure of settlement, soil utilization and forest stands. He comes to the conclusion that the changes in the settlement structure and soil utilization have been prevailingly positive, while the intensive exploitation of timber led to the retreat of fir.
