Vyšné Ružbachy – najvýdatnejší areál minerálnych vôd na Slovensku

Vyšné Ružbachy in northern Slovakia is the richest area of thermal mineral water in Slovakia. There are altogether eight springs of warm mineral water and some smaller springs with cold chalybeate water. The well drilled to the depth of 208 m, named Izabela Spring, is the richest source. The maximal output of the source comes up to 130 l/s of thermal water, recommended permanent supply is 30 – 50 l/s. The water temperature is 22 – 24°C. The CO2 content is 1200 – 1400 mg/l. The origin of these waters has been discussed extensively; earlier authors located the infiltration area in the Belanské Tatry Mts., the author of this paper is convinced that it is nearer to the spa – in the Popradská kotlina (Basin) and Levočská vrchovina (Highland).
