The article submitted deals with the possibilities of utilizing the theory of spreading news in space – i. e. innovation diffusion – in geography. It contents a brief description of the development of this theory and explanates in detail those of their elements, which are further utilized in a concrete demonstration as follows: characteristics of innovation movement and its cartographical representation. The selected demonstration of innovation diffusion in the territory of Slovakia is the development of television licensees by districts and the results of the analysis is a map of innovation waves in spreading television.
