Einige Siedlungsgeographische Aspekte von Planungskonzeptionen der Urbanisierung in der Slowakei

The main tendencies in the urbanization process in Slovakia as well as its specific features during the last 30 years have been submitted in this paper. The paper gives a brief information of the Urbanization Project of the SSR, which is to direct the development of settlement structure in the period till 2.000. A substantial part of the paper is devoted to the analysis of supposed effects in realizing the Urbanization Project of the SSR upon the structure of settlement network, settlement function and their hierarchic arranging, especially related to the location of Services. The planned arrangement of service centres at the level of the lowest categories of the central towns (central communities) is compared with the data of location of the basic establishments of health service and education.
