The study submitted analyzes the problems and the degree of teaching geography at all the types of schools in Old Hungary referring to Slovakia from the period of cosmographies till the early 19th century. Besides teaching geography the study deals also with the creation of text-books of geography for the individual types of schools. Besides, in the contribution also other geographical works are mentioned, which besides their original aiming also as text-books were used. Out of the authors of these works the article deals specially with Slovak authors of the text-books of geography.
