In the present work the groundwaters of the Slovák Socialist Republic are evaluated by the method of hydrographic regionalization. A map is also drawn up: Groundwaters of the SSR on scale 1:500 000. The map con- tent starts methodically from the dynamics of groundwaters – from their dynamic component. The result of classification based on the two above mentioned criteria is the delineation of hydrotypes. They are two taxonomic levels: the higher level represents the groundwaters of plains, the groundwaters of basins and furrows and the groundwaters of mountain ranges and the lower level the subtypes. In each subtype are determined the categories of dynamic reserves of groundwaters per 1 km2 in 1.s-1 The Work is of importance for the scientific knowledge of hydrography of groundwaters and for their use in water management and for the protection of environment.
