In the contribution the author deals with various opinions on regional geography. By analysing and evaluating them he comes to the opinion that the main feature of regional geography is its complex and synthetizing approach to the study of totally conceived geographical landscape. The most truthful definition of regional geography is possible just on the basis of these marks and in this way it can be distinguished from the other sciences. Within the presented scheme of the classification of geographical sciences, where according to the main principle the complexity of geographical sciences increases from the circumference of the circle towards its centre, regional geography as the most complex science is situated in the circle centre
