In this study an attempt is made to describe and evaluate the geometrical shapes of forty-six Slovak cities using the Boyce-Clark radial line index. The introductory part identifies the set of selected cities, defines the shape index, and discusses some questions concerning its application. The results of this application are presented and briefly evaluated in the second part. Finally, the third part of the study contains some preliminary conclusions on shape determinants in the context of Slovak cities.
