The presented study documents possibilities in utilization of space images obtained by LANDSAT satellite in identifying linear and non-linear dividing marks. A definition of the concepts of linear and non-linear marks are quoted. The identified dividing marks in the West Carpathians that were not confronted with the results of geomorphological, geological and geophysical investigations are no considered as tectonic disturbances, since the mentioned characteristics of the earth surface represented on images can be caused, for instance, due to occurrence of vegetation belts, by various anthropogene objects and so on. For that reason It is necessary to confront the identified dividing marks with the result of scientific disciplines mentioned, wherewith either identity is confirmed, or a more precise aspect, or also new Information of tectonic disturbances are obtained.
