Demografický vývoj v Československej socialistickej republike, jeho činitele a perspektívy

The population development in the CSSR does not differ principally from that in the other economically developed countries, nevertheless it possesses some specifica. The demographic processes are characterized by de- crease in fertility, which manifests itself by decrease in natality and concentrates to the female age group of 20 – 24, further in stagnancy in mortality and in its increase in the last period in some age groups, in infant and neonatal mortality getting lower and at last in divorce and abortion rates increasing incessantly. From prognosis for the development in population number it results that ČSSR population will Increase until 2020 (even if slower than until now), when the entire population growth will be realized in the SSR. The share of inhabitants in productive age after a striking increase in a period 1985 – 2000 in the next years will decrease, nevertheless even in 2020 it will remain higher than until now.
