In solving such world’s and International problems like those concerning the mankind nourishment, soil protection, landscape and human environment protection the basic assumption is a unified world’s soil classification system. Such a system like this is being prepared as an international reference basis (IRB) on the basis of FAO classification. Its contemporaneous state, a brief characteristic and a comparison with the Czechoslovak classification are topics of this work.
