The contribution gives information on methodic aspects in creating automatic Computer procedure tor optimizing the retail-trade network, which was worked up within creating a conception of the development of material and technical basis of retail trade in 278 most significant Czechoslovakian towns. The procedure described employs existing data registers of the retail trade, being up-dated every year, when calculation of prospective reserves requirements is based on a system of standardized indicators, the so called space standards. The article brings suggestions for further employment of the optimizing method in solving tasks of the territorial and regional planning practice as well as for an interconnection with prognostic models of this other components of the geographical system.
