Five vegetation units (Oenantho aquaticae-Rorippetum amphibiae, Eleocharitetum palustris, Butometum umbellati, Bolboschoenetum maritimi and Butomus umbellatus-Sagittaria sagittifolia community) were found during the research of freshwater amphibious herbaceous communities of periodically flooded habitats in the 1996–2002 in the catchment area of the river Ipeľ. The communities are documented by 34 unpublished and 23 published phytosociological relevés. Synmorphological and synecological characteristics of vegetation units are presented. Some taxonomical and syntaxonomical problems are discussed
