The presented contribution documents possible application of spectral indices of transforma-tion Tasseled Cap (brightness, greenness and wetness) ä§ ä mean for determination of information on water content in bare soil surface layer from Landsat TM data set. The results confirmed existence of the general trends - with increasing water content brightness values are decreasing, and wetness values increasing. It was also concluded that in the next study of the relationship between soil surface water content and its spectral properties it is necessary to analyse extent of the influence of soil colour, organic matter content, surface roughness and vegetation remnants on soil spectral reflectance.
