More than 280 experts from 24 countries of the world met at the 17th Czech and Slovak Conference on Magnetism which takes place from 3 to 7 June 2019 in Košice. This city is considered to be the centre of magnetism physics thanks to the work of two institutions – the SAS Institute of Experimental Physics and the Institute of Physical Sciences of the Faculty of Science of the P.J. Šafárik University (UPJŠ), both of whom organize the international conference.
"The conference with its broad international participation builds on the long-standing tradition of meetings of Czech and Slovak physicists working in the field of magnetism which have been organized over a three-year period since 1963, since 1995 under the logo of CSMAG (Czech and Slovak Conference on MAGnetism)," says, RNDr. Ivan Škorvánek, CSc. from the SAS Institute of Experimental Physics in Košice, chairman of the organizing committee of the conference on the history of this meeting of experts working in the field of basic and applied magnetism. The 17th annual conference on magnetism was opened by the rector of UPJŠ Prof. Mgr. Pavol Sovák, CSc. Subsequently, the opening lecture was given by Prof. Dino Fiorani from Italy who is President of the European Magnetic Association.
The conference program includes several interesting topics. For five days, participants at the event discuss magnetic materials for application in power engineering, magnetic thin films, spintronics, magnetic particles, ferrofluid, multifunctional magnetic materials, and many other topics.
