The communication contactness of the plot in the prose text

Communication contactness is marked by an explicit orientation of the prose text on the recipient – either a reader or a character. Most frequently it is indicated by an apostrophe, as well as by focus of the narration on the recipient through pronouns and verbs. Analysing the work of three writers, the paper is centred on a theme communication in which both the role of the sender and the recepient is taken by a character. Its author states that the theme of acting and relationships is changed into the theme of speaking, perceiving and listening. Despite the looseness applied predominantly in comedial type of the theme communication, there are poetological principles here, too, that can not be broken.

 


To the List of intellectuals and writers in Turiec written by Šmál

The contribution draws attention to the work Syllabus litteratorum Thurocziensium of the Lutheran intellectual and a church historian Andrej Šmál (1706 – 1766): The work was probably written in 1755. The author offered a list of lexicographically described knowledge about public authorities, intellectually active priests and writers of the Turiec comitats. The list is arranged in alphabetical order. The work had very complicated fate (there were many written copies made and the original is missing ). Unfortunately the work has not attracted any analytic-critical attention up to now. Copies of the variant made by Lauček became the object of my study. It is probably the more spread variant of the text of Šmál.

Syllabus litteratorum Thurocziensium is a document of gradual differentiantion of the church history and historia litterariae as two independent disciplines. Following the older tradition Šmál kept schema vita et scripta in particular items;in the biographical part he kept moralistic-didactic praising diction. His patriotism comes from the humanistic topoe of birthplace and baroques of amor patriae.

 


The methods of narration in Urban’s novelette Za vyšným mlynom (At the upper mill)

The study offers an interpretation of the novelette by Milo Urban Za vyšným mlynom (At the upper mill, 1926). This novelette together with other works from Urban’s collection Výkriky bez ozveny predetermined the prose of Slovak naturism in the thirties not only thematically but also by innovatory narrative technique. A. Zilkova attempts to show the modern features of Urban’s narration in a complexity of interpretation – she sees to the important structural elements of the novelette.

The first part of the analysis shows how Urban used the composition of a short story with a secret in order to express the psychology of a lonely individual in the modern way. The author of the study sees to the important structural elements of the novelette (theme, figures, motives), through interrelations is their meaning analyzed. The interpretation draws attention to figurative, metaphorical form of the novelette: "poetic naming" (comparison, metaphore, figure of repetition) and its function in narration is analyzed. The motive of emptiness as an elementary structural pattern is being varied in many ways. Urban’s lyrical text indicates a special relation to language, use of colloquial language patterns and original narrative techniques.

The second part of the study deals with semantics of narration. The narration is based on changing of narrative perspectives and confrontation of more subject’s perception. The analysis also draws attention to depicting space and time and the function of chronotopes by reflecting an epic character in situation of loneliness and emptiness.
