O článku:
Testing hypothesis concerning the unknown variance components is an important part of data analysis. Under the standard normality assumptions $F$-tests exist for testing the significance of the variance components in many problems. But there are some applications, in which $F$-tests do not exist. Testing variance components in mixed linear models were given in Mathew and Zhou [ Some tests for variance components using generalized $p$-values, Technometrics 36 (1994), 394–402]. Our purpose is to construct the confidence intervals for variance components using generalized $p$-values.
