O článku:
The aim of the article was to analyse territorial differences in the housing infrastructure as an indicator of quality of life and subsequently to set the analysis into the context of change of the quoted characteristics on the national levels in the interval between the two national censuses of 1991 and 2001, as well as to compare the relevant situation in Slovakia and in some neighbouring countries. This analysis is based on objective indicators of the basic housing infrastructure sorted out from the 2001 Census. Seven indicators were chosen: gas supply, water main, sewage, hot water, central heating, bathroom or shower, and flush toilet availability. Subsequently, the index of the basic housing infrastructure was computed for 72 territorial units. Cartograms contain the result. The basic housing infrastructure quality is higher in big cities, urbanized and industrialized districts in the western and north-western parts of the country. It is lower in the rural districts of the eastern and north-eastern parts.
