O článku:
Gradual solving of several fundamental problems is characteristic for building up the New Bulgarian Standard language during the Bulgarian revival. One of them is the question which of the offered normative models of the New Bulgarian Standard language is the most adequate and appropriate for the codification. By handling these problems the question of the norm and the criterion preferred in creating the norm is practically solved. In this study we are trying to locate the motives which guided Bulgarian writers in the determination of the norm if we are looking into the problem from a theoretical position of existence of a number of criteria: following the language ideal, a pragmatic criterion, an aesthetic criterion, a criterion of being in accordance with a system, a criterion of reputability and communicative effectiveness. The sources we took in account were metatexts and codifying works from the 1820–1878 period.
