O článku:
The study of the historical maps is of extreme importance for the knowing of the development of the landscape. The work illustrates one of the possibilities of application of these cartographic sources, in case of Bratislava, the Capital of the Slovak Republic, and particularly its part – Petržalka. The 18th century predecessor of this gigantic complex of the housing estates on the right bank of the river Danube was a small village. On the basis of superimposition of old delineations of Petržalka with the use of a fixed point (church) we were able to state, even without the study of other historical material, that Petržalka was seriously threatened by the river erosion of the Danube in the years 1753-1771. By the shift of its former channel by 150-200 m, gradually 31 houses on 20 individual plots, i.e. one third of the village disappeared at an estimated annual velocity of erosion 8-11 m. A complex reconstructional map of the landscape changes described in the article, as well as delineations of the situation of the used historical maps form part of the contribution.
