It is known that all normal extensions of an algebra $\frak A=(A, F)$ from a variety $V$ belong to the Malcev product $V\circ S$ where $S$ is the variety of all $F$-semilattices. Now we show that all quasi-boolean extensions of $\frak A$ are contained in the Malcev product $S\circ V$.
