Geografický prístup k výskumu kultúrnych pamiatok a historickej kultúrnej krajiny (na príklade podmalokarpatského regiónu)

Properties of the natural landscape are often used as indicators of environmental quality. However, results of research focused on historical cultural landscape (HCL) are also applicable for this purpose. Conserved segments of HCL are viewed as positive parts of the present landscape, which enrich the environment of the given territory. The article presents verification of geographical methodology of research into cultural monuments and HCL using the example of the study area of the Sub Little Carpathian Region (south-west of Slovakia). It is involved with comprehensive evaluation of a set of cultural monuments based on the analysis and assessment of collected data about their geographical, cultural, historical, aesthetic and technical/legal properties. The data are concentrated in evaluating sheets, which provide an overall picture about the cultural monument in question and its inclusion into the transformed HCL. Typologically different segments of compact HCL were identified in the study area. Apart from their cultural and historical value, they also possess a high potential for the optimal inclusion into the functional present landscape (compact segment of historical urban settlement landscape in Svätý Jur, segments of historical rural settlement landscape at Doľany, Častá, Horné Orešany, Dolné Orešany, and segments of extra urban HCL in the hinterland of Červený Kameň Castle, the Chateau of Smolenice, and recreation resort of Harmónia.
