Curriculum vitae

Mgr. Barbara Lášticová, PhD.

I am a social psychologist and senior researcher at the Institute of Research in Social Communication (since 2001). My main areas of interest include constructions of social identities in various contexts (European integration, transnational migration), intergroup relations, political psychology, and methodology of qualitative research. I teach courses in political psychology at the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Arts, Comenius University Bratislava and in qualitative research at the Institute of Psychology, Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University in Brno.
I got my M.A. (2000) and PhD. (2007) in Psychology from the Faculty of Arts of the Comenius University in Bratislava. My doctoral dissertation focused on national identity construction in the context of European integration. I also hold a postgraduate degree in social psychology (DEA) from the Institut de Psychologie, Université René Descartes-Paris 5 (2001), where I experimentally studied the perception of collective decisions' validity.
I co-edited the volume Politics of Collective Memory: Cultural Patterns of Commemorative Practices in Post-War Europe (Lit, Vienna, 2008) and co-authored the book Constructing Slovakness in Public Space (SAV, Bratislava, 2009). I am co-editor (with Anna Kende) of the volume "The Psychology of Politically Unstable Societies" (Routledge, 2024).
