Doc. Ing. František Čapkovič, CSc.

František Čapkovič finished in 1972 his university studies in the Electrotechnical Faculty, Slovak Technical University, Bratislava, Slovakia, in the area of Technical Cybernetics, Automation and Control specialization. Since 1972 to 1991 he had been working in the Institute of Technical Cybernetics (ITC), Slovak Academy of Sciences, Bratislava. After finishing PhD studies in the area of Technical Cybernetics, Automation and Control specialization (1976-1979) in 1980 he received the CSc. degree (the Slovak analogy to PhD) from the Slovak Academy of Sciences. Since 1991, when the ICT was divided, till 2001 he had been working in the successional Institute of Control Theory and Robotics (ICTR) as a head of a research group. Since 1998 he has been the Associate Professor. Since 2001, when the ICTR was linked together with Institute of Informatics, he has been with the Institute of Informatics, Slovak Academy of Sciences as the Associate Professor and a head of the research projects. He is interested in solving the problems of modelling, analyzing and intelligent control synthesis of Discrete-Event Systems (DES) and Discrete-Event Dynamic Systems (DEDS) modelling and control. At present his works are based especially on utilizing Petri net theory and its applications. Since 1991 he has been a head of ten national projects under grant of Slovak grant agencies GAV and/or VEGA and fourteen international projects of different kinds - including bilateral and trilateral projects and projects INCO-Copernicus, Esprit, DAAD). He is the author of more
than 250 publications in journals, book chapters, conference proceedings, research reports on universities abroad (Denmark, Japan).
