Institute of Materials and Machine Mechanics SAS won the H2020 project
Thanks to previous experience in winning projects in EU programmes and the representation of its employees in the Executive Committee of the Society for New Materials and Technology, o. z., the Institute of Materials and Machine Mechanics SAS won, as a member of the consortium, the project: „Strategic and targeted support to incentivise talented newcomers to NMBP projects underHorizonEurope“, FIT-4-NMBP. On January 19, 2021, its kick-off meeting took place in a virtual format.
The aim of the FIT-4-NMBP project is to increase the participation of talented newcomers from under-represented regions in Horizon Europe projects in comparison to Horizon 2020 in the area of "Digital, Industry, Space". Talented newcomers are perspective innovative organisations - especially small and medium-sized enterprises that did not participate in the NMBP H2020 program. So far, regions in the EU-13, EU-15 and associated countries are under-represented in the H2020 NMBP projects, with the project bringing together institutions and companies from Luxembourg, Lithuania, Latvia, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Ukraine and Slovakia.
The role of FIT-4-NMBP will be:
• To organise innovative and motivational workshops for talented newcomers and connecting them with the best NMBP innovators;
• To provide practical support to talented newcomers in preparing NMBP proposals for the Horizon Europe programme;
• To facilitate networking for talented newcomers at major European conferences and regional mediation events;
• To provide training for talented newcomers in the area of technology transfer, writing proposals and using European network portals.
"Additionally to these tasks, individual members of the consortium will map the reasons for non-participation of new innovators in project submission and solutions in their region and will work with experts responsible for regional and national research and innovation policies to name the reasons for this low interest in participating in the programme calls", said Ing. Karol Iždinský, CSc., from the Institute of Materials and Machine Mechanics SAS. The project will also include the formulation of a proposal for measures to increase participation in Horizon Europe calls, which will be offered to regional/national authorities and policy-makers in the area of research and innovation.
