Representatives of Charles University and the Slovak Academy of Sciences ceremoniously signed a memorandum today in the Prague Karolína, which will support and expand the existing cooperation in the implementation of doctoral study programs.

The education of doctoral students and their preparation for the role of researchers is one of the key goals of the university and the Slovak Academy of Sciences, as this will ensure sustainability and further development of scientific excellence. By signing the Memorandum of Cooperation in the Implementation of Doctoral Study Programs, both research institutions declare their interest and readiness to expand mutual cooperation in the field of science and the common system of education of students of doctoral study programs.

"With this memorandum, we want to expand the opportunities for students and doctoral students with the opportunity to be certificated at a top European university, which qualities we greatly appreciate. We are grateful for this cooperation because a large part of our students are studying in the Czech Republic and this will open the door for them to return home," said the President of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, Prof. RNDr. Pavol Šajgalík, DrSc.

"The cooperation confirmed by today's signature expands the possibilities of Charles University to offer students professional guidance by leading Slovak scientists and provides the background for their laboratories. I am sincerely happy about it, and it is another proof of the Czechoslovak cooperation for me. We have never stopped being close," added the Rector of Charles University Prof. MUDr. Tomáš Zima, DrSc.
