SAS Assembly approves framework for SAS scientific policy

The SAS Assembly meeting which took place on Thursday, May 16, 2019 was dedicated to several important topics for SAS. Information on the current situation of SAS and the breakdown of the SAS budget for 2019 was presented to the members of the Assembly and the guests present by SAS President P. Šajgalík and the SAS Vice-President for Economics and Legislation, J. Koppel.
The Assembly in the by-election voted Prof. Ing. Miroslav Fikar, DrSc., Rector of the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava and Prof. Mgr. Marek Števček, PhD., Rector of Comenius University in Bratislava, as members of the Scientific Council of SAS.
The Assembly approved, with comments, the Annual Report on the activities of SAS for 2018, and the rules of the tender for the occupation of seats of the Directors of SAS scientific organizations were also approved.
A substantial part of the meeting was devoted to the framework of the scientific policy of SAS which was discussed by the SAS Scientific Council, Research and Innovation, P. Samuely. The Assembly acknowledged the Vision for a knowledge society and a better Slovakia, developed by the Learned Society of Slovakia, as well as the analysis of financial Support and the scientometric output of SAS and the SAV 2021 document: Action Plan of the SAS Presidium. The Assembly approved, with comments, the SAV 2030 Strategy document which represents the framework of SAS scientific policy for the coming years. (an)
