Slovak Academy of Sciences is the most trusted institution

According to a representative survey carried out by Focus agency on 3.-9. May 2016 on a sample of 1,003 respondents, the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAS), is the most trusted institution tom the 15 another surveyed institutions. Among respondents who answered the question, 80.3% of respondents rather or completely trust Slovak academy of sciences.
The second most trusted institution was, according to the research Slovak Radio and television (RTVS) with 76% and third place is taken by Slovak universities (74.3%). Armed forces of the Slovak Republic are following with 73.6% and the President of the Slovak Republic has 71.9%.
Trust in the SAS increases with age and education. SAS is the only case from compared institutions, when the trust grows with education of the respondents. Other socio-demographic characteristics of respondents such as gender, region and size of settlement were not significant in the perception of trust in SAS differences. Only 8.9% of respondents could not answer the question about trust in SAV. This number represents a significant decrease from the year 2004, when 26.1% of respondents were unable to express an opinion on SAS in a similar research.

I believed and hoped that the Slovak Academy of Sciences has a leading position as a scientific institution in Slovakian society and the results confirmed that,“ commented President of the Academy of Sciences prof. Pavol Šajgalík the results of the survey. „On the other hand nearly 9% of people are unable to express an opinion about our institution and we must continue to work on this topic,“ said President of the Academy of Sciences.
