Earth Day in the Children's World

3. 5. 2016 | 1171 visits
On the Earth day scientists from the Institute of Landscape Ecology SAS are traditionally preparing various environmentally focused events. This year, they organized Earth Day called „Let´s discover the nature little bit differently” and co-organized Earth Day called „Lithosphere”.

The first event „Let´s discover the nature little bit differently“ has been dedicated to students from the Elementary boarding school for the purblind and blind in Bratislava. Our aim was to prepare a program which is not only informative and interesting, but also concrete and tangible. Four stations: Water as a natural resource (Barbora Šatalová), Habitats (Viktória Miklósová), Biodiversity (Andrej Pálay) and the World of the animal kingdom (Martin Izsoff and Petra Gašparovičová) has become the source of new information and competition in knowledge.
The second event took place at the Elementary school with kindergarten in Suchá nad Parnou. Earth Day is one of the events during which we focus on the education of the young generation. This year's theme „Lithosphere“ gave us the opportunity to build on the previous results obtained from projects „Learning from each other“ and „I'll teach you what you do not know“, and at the same time to continue exploring other topics on Earth. We had a competition in topics such as caves, volcanoes, minerals, oil etc. As a "bonus" we had even the wonderful weather, so the Earth Day was really great.
Institute of Landscape Ecology SAS has signed up to Green Week2016 initiative with these events. This initiative on topic investment in a greener future is organized on a local, national, European and international level.
