The new tendences both in literary scholarship and in linguistics towards the formation of the new philological complex are being realised, above all, in the field of area research, intercomprehension, slavicity of Europe and the religious or spiritual philology the part of which are mysterious, enigmatic elements. The present contribution tries to analyze various manifestations of the attempts at the formation of the new unity of philology as such both in the field of literary scholarship and linguistics. Recent research in the sphere of cultural linguistics and area literary scholarship and criticism (the Brno concept of integrational genre typology and philological–area studies, the Cracow concept of russology), links their methodology with that of religious studies, religion itself and theology trying to cover the space of the enigmatic and the mysterious. One of the most brilliant attempts is the conception of intercomprehension in applied linguistics, the study of the relation between the Slavonic and European elements from the angle of cognitivism and, last but not least, A. Korablev‘s conception of spiritual philology.
