About article:
In Southern part of the Little Carpathians two systems of valleys exist. Subsequent system lies on a flat centre ridge. Its direction is that of longitudinal axis of the mountain range, i.e. NE-SW. On the eastern as well as western fault slopes there lie con sequent valleys. Their direction is rectangular to the axis of the mountain range. Traditional interpretation of the relief suggested, that subsequent valleys were old relics of the Pannonian. These old valleys were gradually reduced by numerous piracies of younger consequent valleys. Present study shows that the development was reverse. Subsequent valleys are younger and more aggressive. They disturbed the older, more extensive net of consequent valleys by numerous piracies. This development took place mainly during the Pleistocene.
