Mapy z mladého paleolitu

So far we know three pre-historical (Upper Palaeolithic) maps. All of them are engraved in the fragments of mammoth tusks. Two of them were found in Ukraine (Mezhirichi and Kirillovskaya stoyanka in the territory of the contemporary Kiev) and one in ČSF'R (Pavlov, on the territory of South Moravia). Mezhirichi map dates its origin in the period of 14 000 – 15 000 B. P. and it represents four tent dwellings on the river bank. The Kiev map originated in .Magdalenium (9 000 - 15 000 B. P.) but its drawing has not been reliably interpreted yet (it reminds a geomorphological map). The oldest one is the Pavlov map discovered in 1962. Archaeologically it is classified in Pavlovian (closer dating 25 000 – 27 000 B. P.). The drawing of this map (sketch of map) is interpreted as the meanders of the river Dyje and a relief of the northern slopes of Pavlovské vrchy Mts. The scale of the map is 1:24 000 for the relief and 1:18 000) for the river (average 1:21 000 - all approximate and rounded data).
