About article:
The study suggests at complicated problems in relation between artifical system of urban landscape and natural hydrological cycie. On the background of definition of natural hydrolo- gical cycle, watermanagement and technological cycle of water it is claimed that urban landscape is a place of their mutual interacion and at the same time a specific urban hydrological system is arising here. In the next part of the study specificity of hydrological cycle in urban landscape, especially precipitation and runoff are analysed. Both these balance elements are considerably modified in urban landscape. In towns precipitation sums are higher and runoff is more quick comparing with those in adjacent natural landscape. Values of specific discharge from intravilan of mid size Slovak town is of the same value as that from the highest parts of Slovak dissected highlands. As mitigation measure of negative impact of urban landscape on runoff it is necessary to prolong the retention period by infiltration of precipitation but also by multiple and reduced use of water.
