A commentary of classification of map functions elaborated by U. Freitag (1993) leaning on classification of G. Pápay (1973) and author’s proper classification is presented. Two main classes of functions are discerned: universal and special. Within the second class a subclass of action, purpose-utility and dichotomic map functions are delimited.
